Structure
The Department Finance and Account consist of four (4) units which includes; Expenditure Control Unit, State Accounts Unit, Funds and Budget Unit and Final Accounts Unit.
Functions of the Department of Finance and Accounts
The Department of Finance and Accounts of UBEC ,is charged with responsibility of disbursing the FGN - UBE intervention funds to states and other providers of Basic Education, Verification of compliance with 50% State counterpart Fund requirement, Advising the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education on the funding of Basic Education in Nigeria, Preparation and presentation of periodic Financial progress Report on the Implementation of the UBE Programme, Managing Local and International Donor Agencies Grants, Sourcing funds for the Commission,
Also Liaising with other relevant bodies such as Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministry of Education, and Accountant General of the Federation, Auditor- General of the Federation, National Assembly, Presidency, Education Tax Fund, e.t.c on matters relating to funding of the UBE Commission.
Determining the basis of allocating Funds to states and other UBE Implementing Agencies, Preparing and presenting of the Commission's Annual Financial Statement and Accounts, Keeping all the Commission's financial records, Appointing External Auditors for SUBEBs in respect of FGN UBE Intervention funds Annual Auditing, Processing and payment of monthly allowances to Federal Teachers Scheme participants, Processing and payment of staff monthly salary emoluments and other financial entitlements
Providing other financial advisory services to the Commission such as, Taxation, Investment, Foreign Exchange Management, Financial Training, Computerization of Accounts, Banking and Finance, e.t.c.
