Functions of the Department of Academic Service
Enhancing quality in basic education through appropriate curricular enrichment progammes, Stimulating the provision and management of functional libraries for all UBE target groups for the enhancement of learning - to - learn skills and a reading habit for life - long literacy. Also ensuring basic primary health care facilities in schools and promoting physical education activities, To stimulate and coordinate action research in identified areas of basic education.
To serve as an observatory of events in the basic education sub-sector, reporting on early warning signs of deterioration and proposing strategies for quick remediation. To produce and publish UBE journals, Annual reports, Newsletters, Brochures, Research results and Digest of Statistics for UBE . To coordinate and draw up guidelines on the utilization of the federal government intervention funds by states in the provision of instructional materials and teacher capacity building and education of the mentally and physically challenged.
Managing the research and development components of development partners' assisted project, To serve as desk for JCCE/NCE, To produce reports/briefs on UBE . To coordinate in-house and national seminars on basic education priority areas, and to carry out any other duty assigned by the management. |
